APPROBATION OF METHODS FOR PREPARING PLANT SEED SAMPLES WHILE CONDUCTING RESEARCH ON GENETIC MODIFICATIONS DETECTION

The world population is growing at an alarming rate, posing a significant challenge to food production. Many countries around the world use GM crops not only in the production of feed and food, but also allow the cultivation of such plants on their territory. In accordance with the Russian Federation legislation producers and originators of seed products are required to confirm the absence of genetic modifications in their products through laboratory tests. To establish the most effective method for DNA extraction from seed samples of various crops, a number of commercial kits were tested. During the research, it was found that the purest DNA preparations, as well as stable PCR results for all test cultures, were obtained by manual extraction using kits on magnetic particles, also containing silicon sorbent.
