TRANSBOUNDARY WATER PARTNERSHIP: THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AND AZERBAIJAN

The modern world is facing a global environmental problem: lack of water resources. The Russian Federation is one of the countries most endowed with water resources. More than 1000 transboundary water bodies cross the borders of the Russian Federation. This peculiarity associated with international basins causes many political problems related to water allocation, water use, pollution fixation, and harmonization of regulations. What peculiarities of transboundary water resources management are characteristic for Russia and Azerbaijan? What is the history of agreement between the countries?
