Food waste is a pervasive global issue with significant environmental implications. Approximately one-third of all food produced for human consumption is wasted, leading to detrimental effects such as greenhouse gas emissions, resource depletion, and economic loss. This article explores the scale of food waste, and its environmental consequences. By highlighting the urgency of addressing food waste, this article aims to foster awareness and motivate action at individual, organizational, and governmental levels to create a more sustainable food system.
