The article considers the impact of radiation on ecosystems, including different processes, as well as the consequences of this impact on the environment and human health on the example of the Chernobyl accident. The study of the consequences of the explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant on the environment and living organisms was carried out. As a result of the accident about 450 radioactive substances were released into the atmosphere. The difference in the degree of influence according to the proximity to the source of release on different natural objects (including human health) was established by the consequence of the study of literature sources.
