110 pts (67 female ) 20-55 y.o. with somatoform disorders were examined after excluding the somatic pathology. Pts completed specialized questionnaires. A high prevalence of anxiety, depression, chronic and acute stress was found. 52,7% of pts were not asked about stress. Psychotropic medication prescribed by other physicians were ineffective in 75.5%. An algorithm for managing such patients was suggested.
