THE ROLE OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES IN THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE ZAMBIAN ECONOMY

SMEs play a very critical role in the world economy by contributing to the employment scenario and the level of economic development. The article provides an analysis of indicators of the unemployment rate in Zambia, the number of small and medium-sized enterprises in economic sectors. The author focuses on the support of small and medium-sized enterprises by public authorities. The author concludes that the transformation of the Zambian economy is impossible without the support of the agricultural sector, in which the largest number of small and medium-sized enterprises are concentrated.
