The article examines the essence of the investment climate, its key factors, assessment methods and significance for the economic development of the country. The authors emphasize that a favorable investment climate is the basis for attracting both domestic and foreign investment, contributing to GDP growth, reducing unemployment and technological progress. The differences between direct and portfolio foreign investment are revealed, as well as the relationship between the investment climate and the business environment. Particular attention is paid to assessment methods, including international ratings (Doing Business, Index of Economic Freedom, Corruption Perception Index, Global Innovation Index, etc.), statistical indicators and expert assessments. It is noted that the investment climate is formed by a combination of regulatory, macroeconomic, political and social factors, and even one negative aspect can negate efforts to improve it. The importance of an integrated approach to creating an attractive investment environment to ensure sustainable economic growth and competitiveness of the country is emphasized.
