CURRENT ISSUES IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING AND TRANSLATION METHODOLOGY: A CASE STUDY OF MUSIC PEDAGOGY

This study explores contemporary challenges in foreign language teaching (FLT) and translation methodology by examining the integration of music pedagogy. While traditional approaches often prioritize rote memorization and grammatical accuracy, emerging methodologies emphasize multimodal engagement, cultural contextualization, and creative expression. By analyzing empirical data from a mixed-methods study involving 120 students aged 15-18, this research demonstrates that music-based interventions - incorporating classical, pop, and folk genres - significantly enhance linguistic competence, translation accuracy, and intercultural sensitivity. Results indicate a 30% improvement in vocabulary retention and a 25% increase in syntactic flexibility among participants exposed to music-integrated lessons, compared to control groups using conventional methods. The findings advocate for a holistic pedagogical framework that leverages music's cognitive, emotional, and cultural dimensions to address current gaps in FLT and translation training.
