LIQUID BIOPSY: A MODERN TOOL IN FIGHT AGAINST CANINE CANCER

Cancer is a big problem in veterinary medicine. In order to tackle an opponent as widespread and insidious as cancer, we need all the tools that modern science has to offer and now we have one more - Liquid Biopsy, a non-invasive diagnostic technique. Liquid biopsy refers to testing blood, urine, or other body fluids to identify disease markers. This technology can detect DNA fragments released by tumors or proteins associated with various tumor types. In short, liquid biopsy is the long-awaited “blood test for cancer,” finally allowing us to say “yes” when asked “will the blood work test for cancer?”
