Infectious Salmon Anemia (ISA) is a highly contagious and often fatal viral disease affecting Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and other salmonid species. The disease is caused by the Infectious Salmon Anemia virus (ISAV), a member of the Orthomyxoviridae family. ISA has had significant economic impacts on the salmon aquaculture industry, particularly in Norway, Scotland, and Chile. The disease can cause high mortality rates, often exceeding 90% in affected farms.
