Quantitative nmr spectroscopy for quality control of drugs and pharmaceuticals

Results of a comparative analysis of the use of quantitative NMR spectroscopy for the quality control of pharmaceuticals and drugs are presented. Diquertin, the active principle of which is the common flavonoid dihydroquercetin (taxifolin, 3,3′,4′,5,7-pentahydroxyflavanone), was used as an example. Quantitative 1H NMR spectroscopy can be recommended on the basis of this comparative analysis for use when it is necessary to identify all possible impurities or to confirm the absence of toxic contaminants and also for rapid analysis of samples. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
