New high-entropy MIL-78 metal-organic frameworks with rare earth metal ions

Five-, six-, and seven-component high-entropy metal-organic compounds of a MIL-78 type with the general composition (nRE)BTC with rare earth metal ions (RE3+ = Sm – Er) and a benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid linker have been firstly synthesized by the hydrothermal method. It has been established that (nRE)BTC have increased chemical stability and adsorption capacity for methane and especially water vapor compared to single-component REBTC. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
