This article investigates the body of knowledge on conflict resolution and peacebuilding in Africa, applying a bibliometric methodology. We drew data from the Web of Science database and used VOSviewer software for data analysis. We uncovered seven main clusters in research on conflict and peace in Africa: studies on climate change and conflict; conflict resolution; democracy and peace; the role of institutions in peacebuilding; violence and mortality; the role of religion in conflicts; and political settlement. We found that the trending research topics include China, networks, peacemaking, statebuilding and civil wars. We also explored the level of intellectual collaboration, the most influential authors and studies, and the citation structure in research on conflict and peace in Africa. As conflict intensifies in some parts of the continent, this research provides a good resource for researchers and academicians. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
