Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Implementation of the UN SDG 9: Promoting Sustainability in the Industrial Sector of the EAEU Economy

Although many studies have focused on artificial intelligence, few have examined its relationship with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the industrial sector of the economy. Specifically, there is a limited exploration of how AI implementation in the industrial sector of the EAEU economy can drive progress toward achieving the SDGs. The research is based on analyzing scientific literature, official data, and practical examples of AI use in industry. The authors discuss policy initiatives of the EAEU member states and recommend measures to create favorable conditions for the introduction of AI in industry and promote sustainable development in this sector. The authors conclude that AI has significant potential to improve the sustainability of the industrial sector and that cooperation between EAEU countries can accelerate this process. The research also identifies the role of public–private partnerships in promoting the implementation of AI in industry. The authors emphasize the need for joint efforts of government, business, and academia to create a favorable ecosystem that supports innovation and development in the field of AI. The authors call for further research and development in applying AI for sustainability in industry. They also emphasize the importance of educating and upskilling the workforce for the new roles created by AI. The research is a valuable contribution to understanding the role of AI in promoting sustainability in the industrial sector of the EAEU countries. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
