The paper is devoted to the analysis of calibration and measurement capabilities of Russia, which ranks second among the participants of the metric convention according to the International Bureau of Weights and Measures. The main attention is paid to the modern State Primary Standards, which realize the units of measurement based on fundamental physical constants. The new definitions of seven units of the International SI System introduced in 2019 are considered: meter, kilogram, second, ampere, kelvin, mole and candela. Special attention is paid to interstate comparisons in the assessment of metrological capabilities of primary measurement standards. It is emphasized that a measurement standard is a complex including various measuring instruments and elements for reproduction, storage and transmission of units of magnitudes with high accuracy. The use of imported equipment in Russian measurement standards for measurements in the field of gravimetry, dosimetry, thermal conductivity and other areas is also considered.
