HISTORY OF THE PACIFIC WAR, CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES FOR BOLIVIA

This article tells about the history of the Pacific War and analyzes the causes and consequences caused by the War of the Pacific (1879-1883) for the Bolivian State. In spite of having passed more than 138 years since that February 14, 1879, when Bolivia lost the coastal zone of the Pacific Ocean and remained territorially cloistered, it has caused great economic losses in the development and progress of the Bolivian country. Currently Bolivia has filed a complaint with the International Court of Justice in The Hague (Netherlands), the highest judicial body for settlement of disputes of the United Nations system. As a result of the legal foundations laid out by the commission of prestigious international advisors in the field of international law, there is the hope that the Bolivian people can recover the sea with sovereignty to the Pacific Ocean.
