GREENHOUSE EMISSIONS FROM HYDROELECTRIC DAMS

Many countries consider hydroelectricity a clean source of power because it doesn't involve burning dirty fossil fuels. But that's far from true. The generation of hydroelectricity is not, however, greenhouse gas neutral. Dams emit both Carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) that may contribute to global warming.
