Synthesis and in vitro antifungal activity of selenium-containing chitin derivatives

Mild and ‘green’ ultrasound-assisted reaction of chitin with 3-(chloromethyl)[1,2,4]selenadiazolo[4,5-a]pyridin-4-ium bromide in water affords novel selenium-containing cationic chitin derivatives. The thus obtained chitin derivatives are water soluble and are characterized by high in vitro antifungal activity comparable with conventional antifungal drug Amphotericin B. © 2022
