Nowadays, virtual interaction between a teacher and a student is considered to be a normal everyday\nprocess. The pandemic that broke out in 2020 became a turning point, since the virus that spread around\nthe world led to the transformation of major spheres of human life. It had a critical influence on the\nsystem of education, which meant that teachers had to quickly adapt to virtual interaction with students\nand to be able to assess their academic achievement under the conditions of virtual educational\nenvironment. There are certain changes in the field of communication. Today, online meetings, online\nconferences, and even online corporate events are part of modern reality that seemed unbelievable only a\nyear ago. It is known that the main goal of teaching a foreign language is to form the communicative\ncompetence. This aim was mainly achieved through live communication and emotional contact between\nthe teacher and students striving to develop their language skills. The authors of this article paid special\nattention to the analysis of the main ways of introduction of the communicative activity approach, which\nis traditionally considered as the theoretical basis for foreign language teaching. The authors dealt with\nthe problem of formation of the communicative competence under the conditions of virtual educational\nenvironment.
