В статье рассмотрено понятие местного самоуправления, определено положение органов местного самоуправления и их законодательная основа. Проведен анализ местного самоуправления в городах федерального значения и рассмотрены перспективы их развития.

The article considers the concept of local self-government, defines the position of the local self-government bodies and their legislative basis. The analysis of local self-government in the cities of federal significance is carried out and the prospects of their development are considered.
