The paper attempts to consider innovative steel production in Russia. It outlines statistics, which demonstrate the need in modernization of Russian steel industry. This, in the light of being a new WTO member, will allow Russia to be more competitive in the world steel market. As an example of successful innovative company, the paper presents OJSC Novolipetsk Steel.
