Summary Spinal cord diseases are common in dogs. With the advent of magnetic resonance imaging, diseases that occur exclusively or predominantly within the spinal cord are more readily diagnosed compared to previous years. Of these ‘newer' intraspinal diseases, the most common are associated with abnormal intraspinal cord fluid accumulations consistent with syringomyelia and hydromyelia.
