SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AND THEIR ROLE IN SHAPING PUBLIC OPINION IN A MULTIPOLAR WORLD

This article discusses the role of social media platforms in shaping public opinion in a multipolar world, especially in light of the increasing reliance on digital technology, as these platforms have become a major tool for individuals to express their opinions on global issues. The article aims to identify how individuals use social media platforms, explore the impact of information on shaping young people's views on global events, and evaluate how individuals interact with conflicting and multiple information. The results showed that social media platforms enhance public dialogue and contribute to shaping public opinion, especially among young people who consider these platforms a major source of information. However, the results also indicated challenges related to misinformation and the need to develop critical thinking skills among users. The article provides recommendations for policymakers and media professionals regarding enhancing media literacy and developing policies to support reliable information, in addition to encouraging civic engagement. The study also suggests areas for further research, such as the impact of misinformation and cultural factors on the use of social media. The article also contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of social media in shaping public opinion and enhancing social and political awareness in the digital age.
