THE ROLE OF SPORTS JOURNALISM IN SHAPING NARRATIVES IN A MULTIPOLAR WORLD THROUGH HOCKEY

In an increasingly multipolar world, where geopolitical dynamics are rapidly evolving, sports journalism, particularly in the realm of hockey, serves as a unique lens through which to examine cultural identity, national pride, and international relations. This paper explores how hockey journalism not only reports on the sport but also influences public perception and diplomatic narratives among nations with differing political ideologies and interests. Through case studies of major international hockey events, such as the IIHF World Championships and the NHL's global outreach, this study highlights how media coverage shapes narratives around national identity and unity. Additionally, it investigates the impact of social media on the dissemination of hockey-related content across different regions, emphasizing the role of journalists in fostering dialogue and understanding in a multipolar context. By examining the intersection of sports and politics through the lens of hockey journalism, this paper aims to contribute to the broader discourse on the responsibilities of journalists in navigating complex international landscapes while promoting sports as a unifying force.
