Bovine mastitis poses a significant challenge to dairy farming in Central Province, Sri Lanka, impacting both animal health and milk production. This study investigates the prevalence and microbial pathogens associated with bovine mastitis on selected dairy farms in the region during 2024. A total of 457 lactating cows were sampled from 220 farms, utilizing both clinical examinations and laboratory analyses to identify cases of mastitis. This study underscores the need for targeted management strategies and farmer education to enhance animal welfare and improve milk yield, ultimately contributing to the sustainability of the dairy industry in the region. Promoting effective mastitis control measures is essential for increasing productivity and profitability in Sri Lankan dairy farming.
