Objective. To investigate the causes and incidence of complications following brachioplasty and to examine possible treatment options that could reduce the incidence of complications. Material and methods. Searching for literature data was conducted in the PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, Cochrane, and eLibrary databas-es using the keywords «осложнения», «брахиопластика», «эстетическая хирургия», «пластическая хирургия», «контурная пластика», «brachioplasty», «complications», «body contouring», «aesthetic surgery», «plastic surgery». After reading the abstracts, the authors studied full-text Russian-and English-language articles published between 1954 and 2023. Final analysis included 36 articles. Conclusion. Complications were associated with poor surgical technique, inadequate preoperative examination, and lack of individual risk assessment in patients undergoing bariatric surgery. The most common complication of brachioplasty was hypertrophic scarring. Thus, there is a need to study treatments that could improve scar quality. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
