We identified the key features and prospects of the improvement of implementing intellectual management information systems, which are aimed at the growth of product quality of agricultural production in African countries. We distinguished countries of Africa that demonstrate the highest results in the sphere of implementation of these systems and determined factors that facilitate these indicators. The main directions for the implementation of the considered systems include monitoring and forecasting climate and other indicators of product quality; support of knowledge and skills in this sphere through consultation and automatized solution of production tasks; informing about the level of product quality of the given sector; and online commerce, which systems of management allow determining the parameters of quality. The key problem in this sphere is financing and technological support for increased product quality of agricultural production in African countries. The goal of the paper was to identify the directions for applying management information systems to raise product quality in the AI economy in developing countries and to elaborate on the perspectives in this sphere. We used the complex approach, statistical analysis, and comparative method. The scientific novelty of this paper lies in establishing the features of the formation of factors that influence the implementation of intellectual management information systems that are oriented towards the growth of product quality. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
