SOLAR RESOURCE IN ECUADOR FOR CONCENTRATED SOLAR POWER

The assessment of solar resource is essential for the investigation of Concentrated solar power (CSP). Ecuadorian policies promote the use of renewable sources of energy; nevertheless, there is limited research on CSP in the country. The objective of this work is to identify the provinces of the continental region of Ecuador with DNI greater than 4 kWh/m²/day. The analysis of the information and map creation was possible with the aid of a Geographic Information System (GIS). As a result, the provinces taking the greatest advantage from DNI belong to the Andes.
