The article explores possible ways to combine education and research in higher education. A set of paradigms and approaches is analised. Language for Specific Purposes (LSP) is considered as an effective tool to train students' skills in the field of knowledge creating in a specific domain of professionals' cooperation. A new blended LSP training methodology with the goal to bridge the gap between education and research is outlined and its implementation in the course of experimental LSP training is described.
